The moment you pick up Basil and hold her in your arms so you can kiss the top of her furry head, she starts to purr. When you're a foster at SOS Prairie Rescue, the most important task is teaching cats how to socialize with humans, which basically means, if you have a litter of 8 week old kittens in your home, you have to teach them how to cuddle.

She's very very very small. And very very very cute, so it'd be a good idea to adopt Basil right away, when she's small enough to crawl into the front pocket of your bunny hug cause it's a new space to explore. When she's small enough to hop on your shoulder so she can see the world from a higher vantage point. When you got a kitten in your life, your heart just feels good whenever you're with them. And as they grow up they become a member of your family and a trusted friend.

Basil is being fostered with her siblings, Parsley, Rosemary and Turmeric. As soon as you meet them they'll all stare at you with a look in their eye that says, “You just walked in the room two seconds ago, and we're all so cute that you already want to adopt us.” And once they all start hopping up on your legs, and letting you give them hugs there's an impulse in your heart that'll make you want to take care of that kitten in your arms for the rest of your life.

When all 4 of them are napping in a pile with each other, and you lean down to give them a hug, and press your face into their fur, all of them start purring at the same time. Kittens are the best thing in the world.
