ABOUT SOS PRAIRIE RESCUE

Built on people. Driven by purpose.

SOS Prairie Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Saskatchewan changing outcomes for cats and the communities that care for them.

WHO WE ARE

A rescue shaped by real life

SOS Prairie Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run registered Canadian charity.

Charitable Number: 71534 8686 RR0001

We are a foster-based rescue built by people who choose to step in, opening their homes, their time, and their capacity to help where help is needed most.

This work grew from real situations, not theory.

More calls. More cats. More communities trying to help without enough support or access to care.

And instead of stepping back, people stepped forward.

WHAT WE DO

Rescue.
Veterinary care.
Long-term solutions.

We work where the need is greatest — in rural towns, northern and remote communities, and situations where access to veterinary care is limited.

Our role goes beyond simply removing cats from crisis.

Every cat in our care receives full veterinary follow-through, including spay or neuter every time, without exception.

Through foster care, adoption, emergency response, Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage (TNRM) action, and community partnerships, we step up where cats have nowhere else to turn.

Because rescue should prevent suffering and NOT contribute to the cycle.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

SOS Prairie Rescue began by
showing up.

This work did not begin with a business plan or a building.

It began with cats who needed helpĀ  and situations that were too urgent, too common, and too easy for the world to ignore.

One call became another. One cat became many.

And before long, it became impossible not to see the bigger picture.

Too many communities without access to care. Too many caregivers trying to help without support. Too many cats left to continue the cycle.

So SOS was built to respond with foster homes, veterinary care, practical support, and a commitment to long-term change.

WHY IT MATTERS

Thoughtful rescue. Responsible care.

Everything we do is shaped by the realities of rescue. Urgent need, limited resources, and a commitment to doing things responsibly.

We focus on solutions that support both cats and the communities they come from, with an emphasis on long-term impact.

Responsible Rescue

We do not believe in quick saves that leave the cycle untouched.

Responsible rescue means stepping in with a plan.Ā  Not leaving mothers behind, not ignoring toms, and not walking away from the cats still left to reproduce and suffer.

That is how real change starts.

Full Veterinary Care

Every cat receives complete veterinary careĀ  including spay or neuter, vaccines, parasite treatment, and additional care when needed.

Not just the bare minimum. What they need and deserve.

Foster-Based Care

Cats are supported in foster homes and, when ready, through trusted adoption partners allowing for better care, assessment, visibility, and successful transitions into homes.

Long-Term Focus

We prioritize prevention through spay/neuter, TNRM, and accessible support for caregivers because the goal is not just to rescue cats today, but to reduce the need for rescue tomorrow.

Doing the right thing isn’t always the easy thing.
But it’s the only thing that actually changes outcomes.
