This is Anise. She was found with her kittens out in the wild. SOS brought them all in, the kittens are almost all adopted, but Anise doesn't trust humans yet, so she needs a bit of time. She hisses when I reach my hand in to pet her, she doesn't bite or scratch, that's just her being scared. The moment I start to pet her she tenses up, but then begins relax as I scratch on top of her head and rub underneath her ears. It's gonna be about a month of patiently teaching her that humans okay and hopefully she'll start to let her guard down. Anise is a sweetheart who wants to be loved, she doesn't get it yet.

Those are her two kittens, Basil and Parsely. They want to be adopted, but in the meantime they like visiting their mom. When I open her kennel they walk in and lay down right beside her for a good cuddle cause they are very affectionate.

Update Oct 13: Anise has become more cuddly and friendly since arriving at her foster home. She loves to be pet and purrs when I give her hugs. She's become friends with another foster in my home, Yarbo, and at bedtime she'll hop on my bed so she can fall asleep while snuggling her two kittens and her good buddy Yarbo. When I shake the treat jar Anise and her kittens jump onto my lap, and after their snack she'll stick around for a bit so I can hug her and pet her. She's a sweetheart, it just took a few weeks for her to trust the big scary human trying to become friends with her.

Living with FIV:

Anise has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a condition that requires understanding and care but doesn't stop her from living a full and happy life. FIV-positive cats can coexist with other cats, play, and be part of the family just like any other cat. They simply need a safe, indoor environment and regular veterinary care to monitor their health.

A Note on FIV:

While FIV may sound concerning, it's not easily spread between cats and is usually transmitted through deep bite wounds.
