Sampson’s journey to SOS started with a shelter in another province, where he originally came into care as a feral cat.

After some time, Sampson was placed in a barn home alongside a couple of other cats, but a few weeks later, his caregiver noticed something was very wrong. He was brought back to the shelter and diagnosed with pneumonia — leaving his rescuer with the not-so-small task of figuring out how to treat a very sick cat who wanted absolutely nothing to do with people.

They decided to give him the chance.

And somewhere in the process of getting better, Sampson apparently reconsidered his entire position on humans.

The formerly feral cat became friendly. Then very friendly. And eventually, as his previous rescuer described him, **“excessively friendly.”**

By the time Sampson transferred into SOS care, the feral cat from the beginning of his story was nowhere to be found. Instead, we met an incredibly affectionate, chatty boy who makes excellent biscuits, loves attention, and has plenty to say about pretty much everything. We believe Sampson is either deaf or hard of hearing so when he chats he makes sure everyone else can hear him!

At approximately three years old, Sampson is now neutered and has completed his updated vetting. He does have a history of recurring sniffles following his previous respiratory illness, but these have been clearing beautifully with his current treatment.

Sampson’s story could have turned out very differently if another shelter hadn’t decided he was worth taking a chance on. Now, this sweet, silly, excessively friendly former feral is ready for a home of his own — preferably one with plenty of affection, good conversation, and somewhere comfortable to make his biscuits.
